A transcendental electro-orchestral suite inspired by a tragic tale.

By turns modern-classical, hip-hop, jazz and electronica, 24 Hours in Lapa is an emotionally-charged electro-orchestral suite created by Tamil Rogeon, who is one of Australia’s most innovative and ambitious composers.

Inspired by a 2007 tragedy that took place in the Rio de Janeiro party district of Lapa, Rogeon’s sweeping score is a meditation on the themes of vice, impetuosity and extinguished youth, as it paints the narrative of a young man’s final 24 hours after he was gunned down by undercover police at his 30th birthday celebration.

Providing the lush symphonic harmonies is Singapore’s very own Metropolitan Festival Orchestra, a professional ensemble which shares a rich history with SIFA as it first started out as the resident orchestra for the Singapore Arts Festival in 2007.
